NYC Newborn Photography | 6 Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Newborn Photographer

If you’ve recently found out that you’re pregnant it’s likely that you’re looking into NYC Newborn photography. There are so many newborn photographers out there and choosing can be overwhelming. However, it doesn’t have to be! Here are a few key questions to ask before making your final decision.

At what age do you prefer to schedule newborn sessions?

I prefer to schedule newborn sessions between 4-14 days of your baby’s birth. In these first 2 weeks following the birth, your baby is very sleepy and pliable. A sleepy baby allows us to get those precious sleepy photos that every parent is hoping for. Visit my newborn portfolio page here.

Are parents/siblings included in the session?

Yes, parents and siblings are included in the session. I will take some time at the beginning of the session to focus on your baby but afterwards I will make sure we everyone involved.

Do you offer artwork and if so, what are the options?

Yes, I do offer artwork that includes stunning albums covered in your choice of linen, velvet, or leather, loose matted fine art prints, and framed fine art prints. After choosing to purchase artwork, we would design those together with your favorite images from your session prior to sending them off for printing. Feel free to inquire here to learn more about the artwork I offer.

Do you have a studio or will you travel to our home?

Yes, I have a beautiful all white studio located in Morris County, NJ or I am able to come to your home. Both sessions are beautiful, it just depends on what you’re going for. If you want the perfect white backdrop and baby-led poses on the beanbag, then a studio session is for you. Whereas, if you want to do the session in the comfort of your home, you will receive images of your baby alone but the beanbag won’t be involved and your home will be the backdrop.

Do you use props?

No, I do not use props. Babies are perfect the way they are and props distract from your baby and complicated poses can stress out the entire family. I will often use the term baby-led posing. What does that mean? It refers to documenting your newborn baby in a way that is natural and authentic to him or her. I strive to create timeless, authentic photos of your newborn. A white background with simple white/cream colored wraps will produce stunning images that will stand the test of time. My number one goal as a photographer specializing in NYC Newborn Photography is to keep your baby safe and happy.

Are you insured? Are you a registered tax-paying business? Will there be a contract?

Yes, I’m an insured and tax-paying business. After you inquire I will send over my Investment Guide for you to review. Once you’ve reviewed it and decide to move forward, I will send over a contract for you to review and sign. If you have any questions about the contract please send them my way and I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
