About Our Birthing Center
Our Birthing Center believes that birth is a natural, biological event, not an illness, so it should be treated as such! They have built a team of credentialed and compassionate midwives and nurses and a unique, luxury facility where families can come and welcome their new baby into the world their own way, doing what feels best for them. Births at Our Birthing Center are drug and intervention-free, so women with low-risk pregnancies can labor and deliver while listening to the unique needs of their bodies.
Clinical Director and Midwife Donna oversees the direction, provision, and satisfaction of every client at Our Birthing Center. The large team of nurses has decades of labor and delivery experience to help you safely throughout your childbirth experience. Even though you are in charge of what feels right for you, you’ll have the support of some fantastic women to help you along every step of your journey.
Services
Choosing Our Birthing Center means you’ll feel like you’re delivering in a luxury hotel! The décor emphasizes the normality of birth; it will feel like you hardly left home. The Birthing Suites has amenities like:
- big birthing tubs to use throughout labor and delivery,
- sit-down showers,
- essential oil diffusers,
- birthing balls,
- luxurious towels and robes,
- Wi-Fi,
- rocking chairs, and
- so much more.
These amenities ensure you and your partner have everything you need for a comfortable birth. There’s also plenty of space for your invited family, doulas, and friends, and a large family room and kitchen to accommodate your guests.
Throughout your labor, you’ll be encouraged to move around, eat, and drink as you see fit. There’s no electronic fetal monitoring to keep you in bed (only handheld doppler ultrasounds), so you can move between your bed, the tub, shower, a birthing ball, or wherever. You are in charge of which positions you push in, and any other decisions about what your body may need throughout this process; your midwives and nurses will attend to your needs while watching to ensure everything is going smoothly.
Hydrotherapy is encouraged throughout your birth at Our Birthing Center. Soaking in warm water is soothing, comforting, and relaxing, helping to lower anxiety and focus on your experience. It also seems to reduce stress-related hormones, allowing your body to produce endorphins that act as natural pain inhibitors. Water Births are also an option should you choose to deliver your baby in the tub.
Specialty
Once your baby has arrived, you will be released to bond and rest with your baby in your home. Typically, the center discharges families 4 to 6 hours after delivery. If you and your baby are doing well, they may release you as early as two hours after delivery, or up to 24 if you need more time.
Then, a postpartum RN will be sent to your home to check in, see how things are going, and perform newborn screening tests. The emphasis is always on you and your baby being together once they have arrived. The tests can wait until you rest comfortably in your bed with your baby by your side.
