The Lactation Place: Transforming The Breastfeeding Experience

Breastfeeding is one of those things that’s easier said than done. Throughout your entire pregnancy, you hear all about the benefits of breastfeeding. Then, once your baby finally arrives, you settle down to nurse them, only to realize that it’s a slow-going and exceptionally painful process. While it gets better for some, for others, the process can take the postpartum period and make it downright traumatic. What you need is a friend who will support you and ensure you have the expertise to transform breastfeeding into a positive experience. If you’re searching for someone to help you, I would love to introduce you to The Lactation Place. This thoughtful practice was founded to support new parents through every part of breastfeeding.

About The Lactation Place

51 Newark St., 404 C, Hoboken, New Jersey 07030

The Lactation Place is a center that was opened by Rebeca Four, a lactation consultant with two decades of experience. A political refugee from Cuba, Rebeca came to the country when she was 10 years old. She brings a compassionate approach to all her clients, offering inclusive help in their preference for English or Spanish. Her belief is that you should feed your baby in the way that’s best for you. She will never push her own biases on you but will rather listen to your unique needs. Rebeca offers both telehealth and in-office consultations.

Services

With The Lactation Place, your services will start out with an initial consultation. During this appointment, you will sit down and review the difficulties you are having with breastfeeding. Because she performs a feeding assessment, she recommends that you have this consultation in person. These appointments will last for around an hour. During this, she will assess your baby’s latch, go over your health history, examine your baby’s mouth for issues such as tongue tie, and check for nipple damage. From here, she will create a detailed plan that will hopefully get you on the road to success. If you’d like, she can schedule a follow-up consultation that will last for around 50 minutes so you can review the results and get more advice as needed.

Specialty

While many parents wait until after their baby arrives to schedule a consultation, The Lactation Place will meet with you before your due date if you’d like. During this appointment, Rebeca will work with you to create a plan for feeding. She will help you understand when to supplement and how to pump. She can also fit you for flanges so you can go into birth feeling completely prepared.
